I have a prayer request. Today I got a call from my OB saying that my alpha fetal protein levels were mildly low. This could be a sign of down syndrome. While 60% of the time, this test shows a false positive, I am still concerned. We will have an ultrasound done on Friday. Please pray that everything goes well and our baby is healthy.

Praying for you!
I will pray for you to have peace of mind while you wait for answers, just remember these are human designed test and like humans, they can be and often are flawed!
Prayers for you, your husband and baby. I know that the stress is awful ~ stay strong.
I am putting you in my prayers too -- although your doctor is right -- the test has been false positive for so many people I know (our nephew, etc.). Please keep us posted.
We are praying for the baby and for you! Love, The Wertheims
I have read yours and Elizabeth's blog for a while now, but have never commented. Please know that I am praying for you! I am 18 weeks pregnant myself and know how stressful all the testing and waiting can be.
I tested positive earlier in my pregnancy as a carrier for cystic fibrosis. Further testing showed that everything was okay, but the initial worry and stress was trying.
You and your husband are in my prayers!
Bless your heart, Lauren. I have heard those tests to be so off. I can think of three little babies that wound up just fine. Peace be with your family today, tonight, and tommorrow.
Praying for you, Josh and your sweet baby.
Lauren~I am praying for you. The chances of this happening are SO low-you guys are really young and there's no down's syndrome in the immediate family. Let us know on Friday. The doctor will measure it's spine and neck-they will know for sure within minutes--it will be o.k. Love you guys! Marcy
Our prayers will continue to be with you throughout the pregnancy. My doctor did not even offer this test with Campbell because of the inaccuracy. She just had me get a level two sonogram and they did some special blood test that she said was 99% accurate. I know in my heart everything is fine. May you have peace through this time.
I have heard of far more false postives than true positives...in fact I have never had a friend who had the test done have a true positive.... But many, many, many false positives! I can think of five, off the top of my head and they all had happy endings.
I will be praying for you though because false or not, it is very stressful! :)
I pray that all will be okay!
Hi Lauren,
You are in our prayers and I will be anxiously waiting for your mom's call this afternoon.
Love to you, Josh and the baby.
Suzanne
