21 Days of NO COMPLAINING!

Did any of you see Oprah yesterday about going 21 days without complaining? You might have heard about it somewhere else, too. If not, google Oprah to read about it, or go to www.acomplaintfreeworld.org. Well, it inspired me to TRY this, so I'm going to start right now! They say that it really makes a huge difference when it's all over. 21 days from now (April 18) I'm going to report back, or if I mess up, and then I'll have to start over. I have no bracelet, so I'll just have to think even harder about it. If you would like to do this with me, please comment and let me know. I would LOVE it, and I think it would help. Alright...ready, set, go!

I'm not gonna lie...it's hard! (and that's not a complaint!:)) I've already complained twice, but I am thinking about it more, so maybe I'll get the hang of it. I've started over as of 12:30 today. Wish me good luck!

It was very inspirational wasn't it! I like the idea of how if you are around someone and they complain you have to start over. Sorta rids us of our pity parties and toxic friends. GOod thing you are always so positiveI can still call u!

My Wednesday night ladies class started this 2 weeks ago. I haven't actually started yet, but am definitely thinking I should. Last week several ladies reported on how they had done and they had neat stories. We also didn't get the bracelets, but were to use one we already own. I love the idea behind it! Good luck!

I'm beginning to wonder if I can go 21 hours! I had to start over about 10 times last night, so don't be discouraged if you're the same as me. It's fun, and I'm already learning from it! I'm excited that some of y'all are doing it!! Good luck to y'all!

After reading your post yesterday I decided to try it. Yeah, so I've already started over like 15 times in the last 24 hours (and I was asleep for 8 of those hours). BUT, I am trying, so that's an achievement :)

Alright, so what constitutes as a complaint? For instance, I have a headache right now...am I allowed to vocalize that I have a headache?...like can I say, "wow- my head hurts!", or is that a complaint?

Wow,that does seem pretty tough to do. I read your blog earlier but didn't have time to leave a comment and just in between then and now (about 2hours) I have already complained. I think I will try it too, but on a smaller scale. I will try and make it through the weekend without complaining.

Lindsey, yes, saying "I have a headache!" in a complaining way is complaining, but stating to someone "Do you have ibuprofen, I have a headache" I don't think that would be. It's all in you energy behind it. I made it a lot longer today, but then I messed up around 1:30ish. I feel good about the progress! :) I'm excited that y'all are going to try it with me. You'll have to report on your progress as well! Even if we don't make it, at least we're trying and becoming more aware of what comes out of our mouths!

BTW, an example of what to say is last night we came in the house and it was hot in the house. I almost said, "It's hot!", but instead I said, "It's about time to start the a.c.". Somehow that feels better after saying it!

Well, that's the stupidest idea that I ever....Oh, man, I have to start over again...

Good for you. It is sooo hard to do. I love the pictures of James and enjoy seeing the video. I can hardly wait to see him next month.

What will I have to talk about?
Really, I am going to try, but I think it will stress me out....is that a complaint...wow!

I saw this on the Today Show a couple of weeks ago. I think it's a great idea - we all need more positives in our lives! Especially when we have so many blessings.

I'm up for the challenge!

I did much better today, but I'm still having to start over. :) I complained once today and said something negative/sarcastic once tonight. Whoops! Better than yesterday, but I still have a long ways to go. (that's just a fact...not a complaint!) Oh, and I decided that if you catch yourself in the middle and stop, it doesn't count. That's my personal rule, you can decide for yourself.

Elizabeth, I can't respond back to that, but you are a funny girl. :)

Aunt B, We are getting SO excited to see you!!

Amanda, don't let it stress you out. Give yourself a lot of grace and have fun with it!

Tracy, isn't that rain going to be so good for our flowers and grass! ;)

Rachel and Audrey, I'm excited y'all are joining, too!

I'm having fun with this! Chad and I went to dinner last night with the kids and were talking about how important it is to teach our children by example to be positive in all aspects of our lives!! I don't want to raise whiny, grumpy negative children, ya' know?! I've started over several times, but I'm definitely learning to think differently - SO COOL! It's just so fun not only bettering myself but knowing that this will better our children!!

That is so true, Lindsey! I never thought about that being a great influence for the kids, too!

l,
i don't remember if you were in on this or not. in junior high, me and lacy decided that we were not going to sin for a month! hahaha!
i wish we still has that innocence. i am so proud of you, i would love to partake, but i think with a 6 week old i would be starting over every hour ;)
