Atlanta trip and Meeting the quads!

Last Thursday, we headed up to Dallas at 6am to see one of my best friends, Suzanne, who had her quads the night before. The reason we had to go up so early was that we were flying to Atlanta to see Josh's family 11:00! I was so glad to see her and get to hug her neck before our trip. We had a really great time in Atlanta. When we got there we spent time with Josh's mom's side of the family at Aunt Allyson's house. We had a great meal, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching James interact with everyone. He really gets going when he's the center of attention! That night, we headed over to Josh's dad's house, where we spent the night 3/4 nights. Friday was jam-packed with fun! We went to the aquarium, which was INCREDIBLE!!! If you go, just expect a huge crowd. I was prepared by Kristy's blog, and that helped! We saw sharks, beluga whales, penguins, you name it. My favorite was the beluga whales. The are related to dolphins, so they're smiling, and they have really good vision, so you can see their eye sockets going up and down as they were checking everyone out. My other favorite part was watching James's face. He was fascinated by everything! When we walked outside afterward, we saw American Idol and radio tents. They were auditioning people to be the first people to try out for the Atlanta try-outs next week. They were also giving away free cokes, and I have to mention how incredible my drink was. I am a die hard diet coke fan. Never will touch most other soft drinks, but I decided to try Coke Zero with Vanilla and I LOVED it! It tasted like a diet coke float! So good! Anyways, back to the trip. Friday night, Josh's brother and family and sister and family spent the night with Josh's dad, and we had a blast talking, playing with the kids, and playing pretend Texas Hold'em. Saturday we drove to Gainesville, GA, north of Atlanta, to a cabin for the family reunion. That was really neat, getting to see extended family, some who I'd never seen before, and we enjoyed showing off our little guy. The kids had a great time playing outside, and James loved all of the attention he was getting from his cousins. I wish I'd gotten a picture, but James was letting Josie and Hannah hold his hands and walk him around for a little bit, which my Mr. Independent never lets us do for more than 5 seconds! Saturday night, we headed to Jo Anna's house and spent the night there. Sunday we got to go to Jo Anna and Charles's church, and Hannah was most excited about showing off her cousin to her friends! After church, we went back to Jo Anna's for some great sandwiches and dip prepared by chef Charles. He can even make sandwiches awesome! The rest of Josh's mom's side came over for the afternoon, and we had some great conversation! I also learned from Josh's 15 year old cousin what T9 texting was. I having been wanting to know that forever, and now I understand! I feel better now! Sunday night, we headed back to Josh's dad to spend our last night there. Monday, we flew home, just in time to make another visit to see the quads! Josh stayed at Suzanne and Joe's house with James so I could have a more relaxed visit with Suzanne. I enjoyed so much getting to just talk with Suzanne, who is doing excellent for just have 4 babies! The highlight though was seeing her 4 little wonders, lying in their beds and looking so healthy! It really was indescribable, so I won't even attempt to put it into words. We got in last night and are officially exhausted! Hopefully this will be a calm, easy week, so we can fully recuperate from all of our travels. I forgot to mention that James did not sleep very well this whole trip, so it felt SO good to be back in our bed last night, with James sound asleep in his bed! He seems to already be back to himself, though. Here are some pictures from the trip.

This fish was HUGE!!!

Sounds like a great trip! I'm sure James loved the aquariums and I can't imagine what it was like going to visit those quads! Too sweet! Get some rest this week!

What fun! The Atlanta aquarium is on my short list of things to do. How was James on the plane? When did you fly with him for the first time?

And I'm so glad that you got to see Suzanne!

Kristen, I was sad too! It's long overdue for us to all see each other!

Erica, You are so sweet! Thank you!

Audrey, James was OK on the plane. Not the best, but we can't complain. He was flirting and entertaining everyone around him, so I felt better. I always feel like everyone cringes when someone walks up with a baby on a plane. The first time we flew with him was when he was 2 months old. We flew to Atlanta, so it was a short flight. I can't even remember it, so I can't tell you how he did. Maybe I blogged about it! :)

I'm so glad you had fun with your family in Georgia, and I'm especially glad you had fun at the aquarium! The pictures of James are so cute. I can not even imagine what a heart breaker he's going to be in a few years! Look out girls, here he comes :)
By the way, I'm curious to know what T9 texting is too. And, if you liked Coke zero w/ vanilla I highly recommend cherry coke zero(if you like cherry, that is). It's delicious!

Man, it sounds like you guys were busy in Atlanta! I would love to take Thomas to an aquarium. He loves the zoo so I'm sure he would enjoy the aquarium. I think the closest one to us is in Chattanooga. I'm glad you were able to give some lovin' to Suzanne and the quads. Did you talk to her about who will be helping her out when the babies come home?

Kristy,
T9 texting is where it predicts what you're writing. It's also called Word English. You type the number where the letter is that you want just once (instead of multi-tapping), and that letter might not show up at first, but just keep typing the rest of the word (hitting the numbers just once) and towards the end (if not the end) the right word will pop up. Sometimes a word won't come up if it's not common, but if you multi-tap it, next time you type that word, the word will come up. I haven't figured out how to do question marks and exclamation marks, so if anyone is reading this and knows, please tell me! It's SO much easier to text now that I know this! Also, I'm not a big fan of cherry anything, so I don't know if I'd like that. Thanks for the suggestion, though! I just bought a 12 pack of coke vanilla zeros this morning and am really excited!

Amanda,
She is going to have about 2 people at a time from church come for 4 hour shifts. I was glad to hear that!

Wow, what a wonderful trip! I love that area of the country. Still kinda wish we could have moved there! Savannah was one of Trent's territories when he was with Sprint. I love all the pictures. I am so thrilled for your friend Suzanne that all went well and that the babies are doing so good! What a blessing to have such wonderful family and friends!

I'm glad you liked the aquarium. We went last Labor Day and it was really neat.

We actually just missed each other this year b/c we were at the children's museum last Monday (the 30th) which is right down the street and then went to the Coke museum on Wednesday (the 1st)!

I love James' aviator sunglasses! He is a stud=better than Tom Cruise! Glad you guys had fun on your trip!
I love how in the family picture James is honking Josh's nose. That little boy is looking so big!

This is such an ironic post. My good friend, Julia, who used to date Suzanne's brother, Collin (okay that's the first ironic part), just went to Atlanta to visit her husband's parents that live in Roswell. AND...they went to the aquarium, AND she has pictures posted on her blog. You very well could have been there the same day!

Lisa, Savannah is beautiful. Josh and I stopped there when we were newlyweds on our way from Atlanta to Daytona Beach. My aunt and uncle also have a house there.

Jacinda, That would have been neat to finally meet you after "knowing" you through the blog world! Isn't that area so pretty!

Ryan, He did not, but I wish he would have. I've only seen pictures, and it is hilarious!!

Kim, Those are Josh's cousin's sunglasses actually. He's trying to be a stud for Adalie.

CD, That is crazy! Our world is so much smaller than we think!
