Here's what we've been up to...
James and his best buddy Kelton went to the spray park together last week. They both really enjoyed it! I think James got some of his braveness from watching Kelton, because last time we went with James, he was a lot more timid. They ran back and forth the whole time and enjoyed sticking their hands in the water and splashing.
My Aunt Carolyn and her good friend Eileen came to visit us for a few days. My mom's side of the family lives far away, so it was a rare treat to have both of my mom's sisters come visit us this summer!
Mary Beth turned 3, and Michael and Jilinda came down to celebrate. We always love having them in town. Mary Beth had an adorable princess party, and it was the cutest thing watching her savor each present that she got. By the time she was finished, there was pink on just about every inch of the living room. It was so much fun playing with her toys afterward and remembering how much I enjoyed all of the girly toys when I was little.
James is 16 months old now, which is so hard to believe! I absolutely love this age! I love how he talks to me all day long, wants to crawl on my back, gives me lots of hugs and kisses, brings books to me over and over and sits in my lap to read them, talks to everyone everywhere we go, laughs at himself, and makes funny faces to make me laugh. One of my favorite things he is doing right now is pointing to everything and jibber-jabbering a word with the same intonation that we use. He just got a new book that has the first 100 words with pictures, and he will go from page to page pointing to each picture and saying his word for it. He is also telling everyone and everything (and every room) "Bye-Bye!" right now. While he says it, he lifts up his hand and does a still wave like an older man. It's really funny. He is pure heaven to be with, and I couldn't feel more blessed.
People are starting to ask us when we are going to try for another. Right now we're thinking we're going to wait another year or so to start trying. I used to say two years apart and Josh used to say 3, but we both are agreeing on 2 1/2 - 3 years apart right now. We're planning on a trip this Spring, and then I kinda want to go through another summer without being pregnant. I love summertime and want another one just like this with just the three of us. You never know when the baby bug will strike, though!

Hey Lar!
I laughed when I read about how you and Josh "planned" for your next one. We found out that sometimes, God doesn't let you make your own plan.
I know you know this...I found out I was preggers with Christine-on birth control by the way-when I was about 2 months along. Clare was 23 months old. I sobbed like a baby. YES, it is a miracle to carry a child, but I wasn't ready for this miracle. I had just gotten used to Clare doing things on her own and being able to sleep through the night!
Now, things are great! I have a 4 yr old and almost 2 year old...things couldn't be more perfect.
God knows when the time is right,
Just preparing you in case your baby plans don't go like you planned. haha
You are a fantastic mom...yes, I can tell.
I am proud of you.
Love you girl!
Marcy
If you wait a year, we could be pregnant at the same time!! That is my new favorite thing...figuring out who else will be pregnant when I plan on getting pregnant!!!
I think the heat is getting to all of us! :?) I wish I had a splash park in my backyard on these 100+ days. I love the pictures of Josh and James and the image of James' old man wave - definitely try to catch that on video!
lar,
don't you love it when people ask you when you are going to have another? sheesh! i go back adn fourth. somedays i want irish twins (that's a little over a year apart, folks) and sometimes i want a 6 year old babysitter brother! haha! either way, it's all such a fun and neat experience!!
I wish the "baby bug" would strike us er well Mac. Lol! I am ready to have another now but he isn't. So I wait until he is.
James is so cute! I love looking at his pictures, you can see what a cute personality he has! What's the name of that book you were talking about with 100 first words?
Marcy, You are right! The second child will come when/if the Lord blesses us with him/her! I'm glad you had your little unplanned angel. Josh and I were both unplanned!
Kelly, You are so sweet! I feel the exact same way about Max. He is a doll! The title is called "first 100 words" by bright baby. I got it at Burlington Coat Factory, but there was also a website on the back of the book...www.priddybooks.com. It's his new favorite!
I just love that age where they are able to communicate with you! James is such a little boy:) It is amazing how quickly they go from baby to toddler.
I think planning out a family is great and sometimes God gives you exactly what you pray for (worked for us)....and sometimes not:)
Lauren and Katie, you guys have picked the perfect time! So far, I've got 5 people (including you) on board for next summer, which is when Rob and I had hoped to start trying. (I say that like I'm the one that convinced y'all!!) Anyhow, that's the perfect time in my book! I'm writing it in to my planner now.... ;)
James is such a cutie - love the pics with him and Josh! Glad ya'll are staying in the water...it is SO hot lately! Thank goodness the fall season is right around the corner, eh?!
As for your second...I understand wanting to spread them out and enjoy them fully. Enjoy James until thee next lil' munchkin comes along!
How fun that we could all be preggers together! Hard to even think about!!
Lindsey, Fall is my FAVE! I love summertime (all seasons for that matter), but I always look forward to fall the most.
It's so funny how people always ask questions about when you plan to get pregnant. I feel like people ask me, now that I'm pregnant, when we're going to have our next one!
