What's new...

-Thursday night was my first day back at work. I thoroughly enjoyed getting back into it!! I absolutely LOVE going to the teacher supply store, so I picked out a couple of things there and had a blast decorating my room the rest of the day. As much as I love staying home with James, I also love to get out of the house a couple of days a week and use my degree, socialize, have a routine, etc. We had "meet the teacher" night Thursday night, and I can already tell I'm going to have an incredibly sweet class. I'll have 9 pre-schoolers, which is 1 less than last year...7 girls and 2 boys! I'm about to go back up to church right now and do some more things to the room. I am really looking forward to Tuesday, our first day back. I have to mention how bittersweet it is to move James up to the 1's class. I, of course, want him to move up and be with his buddies, but when I look in the nursery, it makes me a little sad!

-I keep forgetting to mention that I have a missing tooth right now! First time since elementary school I guess! The first big molar on the bottom right side was a crown/root canal tooth, and I barely had any tooth to hold it in. What little tooth I have is chipping away slowly but surely, so that crown has fallen out and will be replaced by an implant! I go for my first appointment in about 2 weeks. I'm so read to not be self-conscious about smiling, eating, etc.

-James is changing SO much right now. Josh and I have both really noticed it lately, and he's really turning into a big boy! He likes to pretend he's going "nigh-nigh" and will put his head down, or sometimes in strange places, like leaning against a door, and say "nigh-nigh". Yesterday he looked in the mirror and said, "Baby?...Baby!" I still haven't figured out if he knows its him or just a baby. How is it that he can be getting cuter and cuter in his personality, more fun than ever, but at the same time, more of a stinker than ever? I am seeing glimpses of the terrible 2's starting already! His favorite word hands down in "no-no!" Going out to eat is harder than ever...almost not worth it! Still, he's more of a joy with every week that passes! I think God planned it that way to get us through. :)

Gotta run up to church. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Lauren,
I have two dental implants and am actually in the beginning stages of my third. I was in a bad car accident as a 9 year-old and have had appliances and such with fake teeth on them. About 5 years ago I started the implant process with the first two. Then, about a year ago, a third tooth just disintegrated into my hand one day(probably initially fractured during the accident). I totally understand being self-conscious. I don't think you realize how much your teeth make an impression on people until you are missing one that is very obvious. Mine is on the top, just next to my incisor, so it is very obvious when I smile big...I'm so ready to get it taken care of I can't hardly stand it! The process is virtually painless, really...I have always used concious sedation instead of a general anesthetic. It is wonderful! The process is a big long and involved and can be hectic on a schedule, but is worth it later. I did have one implant fall out, but it had more to do wiht my bite and my bone structure than anything else. Sorry if I bored you. I just don't know too many people my age having dental implants!

Good luck going "back to school"! How exciting! They grow up so fast. I can't believe Andrew will be 3 the end of this month. It kills me!

Good luck with the implant! All my patients say it's easier than getting a root canal. Have a great first week at school.

Charla,
Thanks for sharing that (you didn't bore me at all)! It's always good to know you're not the only one under the age of 50 with a dental implant! :) I can't believe how long the process is!! I'm just ready to get started.

Jennifer,
That's really good to hear. I'm hoping for some kind of sedation so I don't have to feel anything! :)

Good luck getting your tooth fixed! Your story reminded me of when Chad was lifting weights at HU and dropped the bar on his mouth...he broke his front two teeth and now has fake teeth....he was SO self-consious! Of course, yours being in the back, I bet nobody can even tell!! I hope school goes well this week...keep us updated!

I'm so glad you're excited about starting school! Not being a teacher, I haven't ever been to a teacher supply store, but I have heard from some friends/family (who are teachers) that it is a lot of fun! :) I hope it is a great school year for you and James!
Sorry to hear about your missing tooth--I hope it is not too painful :(
Hope you and your family have a great week!
