We had a wonderful Christmas season! James and Jack were at awesome ages to enjoy the Christmas festivities. Here are some of my favorite Christmas memories...
Christmas memories
-James getting into the countdown calendar. He'd tell people everywhere we went how many days were left until Christmas!
-the boys loving looking at Christmas lights
- Jack getting way more into Christmas than I expected. He sang "jingle bells" a lot and would try to sing along with a lot of other Christmas songs. He woke up every morning asking for "Grumpy-grumpy" (our elf on the shelf's name is Grumpy-humpy).
-James sang a lot of the Christmas songs over and over in his adorable 4 1/2 year old voice. Rudolf the red nosed reindeer is his favorite.
-James talking to Grumpy-humpy and telling him good things he was doing. One day, he was being whiney, and I said "Grumpy-humpy is listening!" He said, "Can we go in the other room?"
-Going to Frisco to have a birthday celebration/cousin slumber party/Holiday-in-the-Park at Six Flags visit. It was so much fun, and James and Jack had a blast with their cousins. Right after we all parted ways, James said, "I'm really going to miss everybody.:(". James rode his first big roller coaster, too! We rode the Mine Train and then the Judge Roy Scream. He was just barely tall enough (and brave enough) so we rode and it was a little more frightening than we thought! I held him tightly, and he said it was scary but that he liked it. I used to be one to want to ride all of the scariest rides, but now that I've had a couple of kids, my body sadly just can't take it the same way! I'm pretty sure my neck wouldn't appreciate me riding the most fun ones anymore.
-Christmas parties. I enjoyed watching my kids interact with Josh's clients at his Christmas open house. James is growing up so much lately and was introducing himself to each person and telling them all about his life. Although, while the whole room's attention was on him, he made an embarrassing comment about what broccoli looks like (which I had never heard him say before). We enjoyed our kid-free life group Christmas party. I'm thankful for those couples and enjoyed spending kid-free time talking and playing games.
-James had a special time at Nana and Deedah's and helped Nana make Christmas cookies. He and Mary Beth had another special night with them and went to dinner and watched Elf. James just ate that up!
-We had Christmas with Michael, Jilinda, and Lydia the weekend before Christmas, so that they could spend Christmas in Dallas with her family. We had a fun few days with them, shopping and eating good food.
-We had out usual Christmas traditions, watching Christmas movies, eating scrumptious meals (my mouth still waters thinking about the Beef Wellington my mom made...)
-Santa brought James and Jack a police car that they could ride in! They have had lots of fun riding around the neighborhood in it.
-Christmas night, Josh and I watched It's a Wonderful Life for the first time (we both had never watched it!). We loved it, and we may have started a new tradition for us. It's definitely a movie you can watch over and over.
That was our Christmas in a nutshell!
