A Trip to the Fire Station

James wanted to have his birthday party at the Firestation, but our station said that they don't do birthday parties there. He welcomed us to come to the station any time, though, and bring a friend to get a tour, which James was super excited about. We brought one of his best buddies, Kelton, and they were adorable, just soaking it all in and taking in every word from the fireman.

This lady was in charge of dispatch, and showed them what happened when someone calls 911.

He told us that at our station, most officers are firemen, policemen, and emergency technicians in one. He also told me another unique thing about their station is that most of them are college educated.

Our first attempt (below) was cut very short when they were called off for a fire! It was cool and exciting to see! He brought them back to the first room, started talking to them, and got a call on his walkie talkie. He said, "Let's go!" to the other people, and "See yourselves out!" to us. We watched them go and said a prayer for their safety. He was so kind and called us afterward to apologize! He did not need to call, that just goes along with the territory, but we rescheduled to come again a few days later.

This is a sight I hope to never see when they are teenagers!
