Next Big Thing

Today I had my 12 week appointment, and I got to hear the heartbeat! I didn't realize I'd get to hear it, so it was a nice surprise. Josh came with me, because he heard the doctor say that we'd hear it this time, but I missed that somehow. It was beating 160 beats a minute...pretty fast! I almost burst with excitement when I heard it and looked over at Josh, who couldn't wipe the smile off his face. I never knew how exciting this would all be!! It helps me stay focused and remember why it is that I'm breaking out, gaining weight, not fitting into 95% of my pants, etc. It's just so neat and such a new, bizzare, cool experience to hear your own baby's heartbeat for the first time!! Anyways, just thought I'd share that moment with you guys!

I am very happy that such a special person gets to experience the joy of being a parent. Watching you help raise our children and seeing the wonderful influence you have on their lives only further reassures me that your child will be truly blessed! I am very happy for you and Josh and I wish you both many joyful days ahead.

That is a wonderful experience -- and it is neat EVERY time you hear it between now and when he/she is born! Sam came with me to one of my Seth's appointments when I was pregnant and came home saying "Mommy's tummy goes swishswish" (except he made that heartbeat sound and it sounded just like it).

We are so happy for you guys!

Somehow it doesn't seem like you're really pregnant until the first time you hear the heartbeat. I remember the last two times I just felt "fat" since there was no evidence of a baby inside me. When I heard the heartbeat for the first time, getting fat didn't seem like such a big deal anymore!!
I'm so happy for you two!

How exciting!! I have butterflies in my stomach for you. FYI, Hadlee was in the 160 range the entire time I was pregnant w/ her, as were both of my nieces... there could be a little chica in there!
