Life is good!

I went up to my school Friday to show James to my kiddos, and we had so much fun! I missed them a lot, and they couldn't get over how weird it was that I looked so different. I kept hearing the kids say "She looks so tall!" (because I am wearing heals again) and "She looks so young!". It really made me laugh. They were in awe of James, though. The funniest thing to me was when I was letting them raise their hands and ask me questions. One of my boys said, "What is he? I know he's a boy, but is he Mexican or...?" I laughed inside while answering that he's white, but some of the kids laughed out loud. Saturday, I got to see Kristen, her mom Suzanne, and her future sister-in-law, Nicole. We had a fun girl's/baby boy lunch along with my mom, sister, niece, and my mom and Suzanne's other best friend, and they got to meet James. Poor James will have to suffer through many girl lunches and girl talks! I am LOVING this stage right now of James' life and am just now starting to really feel like a mom. It just hit me this weekend and everything is so much better all of a sudden. I fall more in love with James every day, and if there was such a thing as kissing someone to death, he'd be a goner! He's such a sweet baby and loves to snuggle. He gets in a smiling mood a couple of times a day now and has the sweetest coos! I could go on, but I'll stop! I'm just so thankful to God for blessing us with him!

I have a one month old!

That sounds so weird! It's kinda sad that I don't say his age in days anymore! Not really, though, because I'm that much closer to sleeping through the night...or at least most of it. :) Tuesday was his one month birthday. I weighed him, and he's gained 3 lbs since his birth! He weighs 11 lb., 5 oz. He's already starting to wear 3-6 month clothes!! (sniff, sniff) My baby boy is changing so much, but I'm loving the changes. He is really starting to stare at us more, which just melts our hearts. Last week, he gave me a real smile. I tried to catch it on camera, but he was starting to get over it and only gave me a half smile...but it's still so cute! Of course, newborns never look as cute in pictures as they do in person. Something about the flash really changes their look. This week he has smiled several times, and I can tell that before too long, he'll be smiling a lot! He's starting to loose his hair (he has a receding hairline!), so I think pretty soon he'll be a bald baby. Tomorrow I'm going to go up to my school and show James to the kids. That should be really fun and crazy! Here is a pic from my first Mother's Day!

AI update: I know everyone has their own opinion about AI, but I am so happy that my 2 favs are in the top two! I think the top 4 had equally good voices, but just completely different types, so I have been happy with the way it has gone. Now I just want my very favorite of all, Taylor, to win. I LOVE his voice so much, love his personality, his originality, pretty much everything about him. I'm going to do my first voting next week for Taylor.

A Crazy Week

Well, this has been a very eventful week. I'm sure most of you who read my sister, Elizabeth's blog know that we had a tornado hit our town Friday night. We had gotten home kind of late from a Cinco de Mayo party and were watching the news. They were talking about a bad storm coming, but we saw nothing that informed us of a tornado coming. Around midnight, after feeding my little slow eater for about an hour, we put James to bed and headed to bed ourselves. The storm started to sound really scary and became extremely intense, so we went back out to the living room to watch more news. We looked out the window and saw the scariest looking storm I'd every seen. The lightening looked blue and the trees were blowing harder than I'd ever seen trees blow. Still nothing about the tornado, so we went to bed. That's when I heard something that sounded like either fierce wind, a train, or a tornado siren. At that moment Josh and I ran to get James and took shelter. Pretty scarcy to go through this for the first time with a baby! Thankfully, nothing really bad happened to us or anyone, but the next morning we realized that our bedroom flooded for the second time this week! Yes, we had a bad rain last weekend that slightly flooded our bedroom, so moved everything out, had someone come to replace the mildewy carpet pad on Friday at 4:30, only to have it flooded again on Friday night! As we were trying to figure out what to do with our problem, Josh got a phone call from the owner of the building where his office is telling him that his office was flooded! His office is right next to our mall, where the tornado formed. The tornado lifted up the air conditioner on the roof and turned it over on its side...right above Josh's office. Everything is a mess now, but at least we won't have to pay for it! We have to count our blessings, right?!

Josh's gift to me for James' birth was tile floor in our kitchen. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I spent almost all day at Elizabeth's house. I didn't exactly want to hang out at my house with the kitchen and our bedroom furniture in our living and dining room. My sweet friends Nicki and Molly brought me lunch on Thursday and sat on the floor in my living room to eat it!

James is 3 weeks old now and is getting to be a big boy! He is already 10 lbs, 3 oz and is getting chunky arms and thighs, which a love! I think he is very close to smiling now, because he smiled and cooed once yesterday as I rubbed his cheeks and smiled at him. There is nothing like that feeling...I can't wait for more!! Josh's mom was able to come meet her 5th grandchild Thursday through Monday. I was so glad for James to meet his first person on his daddy's side! We had a lot of fun, and I enjoyed getting in a few extra naps while Nana Anna held him. We came up with that name, by the way, because my mom and Josh's mom are both Nana's, so since her name is Anna, we thought Nanna Anna would cute (and much catchier that Nana Roberta). James also got to meet his Aunt Suzanne last weekend. I have loved getting to finally show him off to my friends! Here are some recent pics.
