A Crazy Week

Well, this has been a very eventful week. I'm sure most of you who read my sister, Elizabeth's blog know that we had a tornado hit our town Friday night. We had gotten home kind of late from a Cinco de Mayo party and were watching the news. They were talking about a bad storm coming, but we saw nothing that informed us of a tornado coming. Around midnight, after feeding my little slow eater for about an hour, we put James to bed and headed to bed ourselves. The storm started to sound really scary and became extremely intense, so we went back out to the living room to watch more news. We looked out the window and saw the scariest looking storm I'd every seen. The lightening looked blue and the trees were blowing harder than I'd ever seen trees blow. Still nothing about the tornado, so we went to bed. That's when I heard something that sounded like either fierce wind, a train, or a tornado siren. At that moment Josh and I ran to get James and took shelter. Pretty scarcy to go through this for the first time with a baby! Thankfully, nothing really bad happened to us or anyone, but the next morning we realized that our bedroom flooded for the second time this week! Yes, we had a bad rain last weekend that slightly flooded our bedroom, so moved everything out, had someone come to replace the mildewy carpet pad on Friday at 4:30, only to have it flooded again on Friday night! As we were trying to figure out what to do with our problem, Josh got a phone call from the owner of the building where his office is telling him that his office was flooded! His office is right next to our mall, where the tornado formed. The tornado lifted up the air conditioner on the roof and turned it over on its side...right above Josh's office. Everything is a mess now, but at least we won't have to pay for it! We have to count our blessings, right?!

Josh's gift to me for James' birth was tile floor in our kitchen. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I spent almost all day at Elizabeth's house. I didn't exactly want to hang out at my house with the kitchen and our bedroom furniture in our living and dining room. My sweet friends Nicki and Molly brought me lunch on Thursday and sat on the floor in my living room to eat it!

James is 3 weeks old now and is getting to be a big boy! He is already 10 lbs, 3 oz and is getting chunky arms and thighs, which a love! I think he is very close to smiling now, because he smiled and cooed once yesterday as I rubbed his cheeks and smiled at him. There is nothing like that feeling...I can't wait for more!! Josh's mom was able to come meet her 5th grandchild Thursday through Monday. I was so glad for James to meet his first person on his daddy's side! We had a lot of fun, and I enjoyed getting in a few extra naps while Nana Anna held him. We came up with that name, by the way, because my mom and Josh's mom are both Nana's, so since her name is Anna, we thought Nanna Anna would cute (and much catchier that Nana Roberta). James also got to meet his Aunt Suzanne last weekend. I have loved getting to finally show him off to my friends! Here are some recent pics.

SCARY!! It definitely puts a whole new perspective on storms or any situation that could threaten your baby! Even when I drive now I am so cautious b/c of Thomas. I'm glad everyone is okay. That sucks about your carpet though. At least you don't have to pay for it.

You look so good in your pictures Lar. I would of never guessed that you just had a baby. James is so cute! Wow has he gained 2lbs in 3 weeks? He must have a big appetite:) Maybe this week we can chit chat. Is he on any type of schedule or is anytime a good time to call?

Lauren,
It was good to see James in person...he didn't seem to mind shopping at The Gap!
Now that I'm no longer a ghost-blog-reader, I guess I can comment now! :) You can feel free to comment any time as well! Coming out of the ghost-blog-reader world is liberating, huh?

I was so happy for an update from you guys -- although between E & your mom, I felt like I had talked to you too about your storm damage!

James is getting so cute -- maybe he will have chunky Thomas & Seth legs soon -- then I will have to plan a visit to meet him and squeeze those legs!

Keep those pictures coming!

Corrie,
That was so crazy seeing you out! I'm glad that we are no longer ghost blog readers, too! James was very content shopping. It's a good thing, because that was the first of many times to come. =)

I tell you the truth... I am fasinated with weather and specially tornadoes. I think it is more of a scarred thing. You know not being about to predict or control it. Just think, when storms scare me I have to keep it calm and cool so I don't scare my kids... WHOA!!!!
