Friday Morning Thoughts

*I don't feel as safe in my home this morning. Josh found a snake in the nursery first thing this morning! Of all places, why the nursery?? And last year our bedroom?? It was an itty-bitty snake, but it doesn't matter. I'm having visions of a snake slithering up in his crib while he's taking a nap.

*Nana knows best. Why is it that we drop off James at Nana's house for an hour while we go get coffee, and he comes home more satisfied than he's been in a while? I asked her what she did, and she told me how she mixed up his cereal, which was different than how I do it, and that he's probably just getting hungrier and less satisfied with what I'm giving him. It's not that I was starving him, but he just acted last night like we act after filling up with your favorite meal.

*It really struck me while reading my Beth Moore lesson that we women need to be much kinder to ourselves when dealing with our image and to look at ourselves in the mirror as God's. I don't feel like I'm too wrapped up in the way that I look, but I could still improve in the way I view myself. We blame men for creating these insecurities from too high standards, but we are our worst enemy in this matter. Do you ever notice that the more you know someone, you start to see past their looks and just see the person they are inside? You know those people who are externally beautiful, but are so into it that it kind of ruins it? That probably sounds a little harsh, but it works both ways. I know lots of people who aren't "Hollywood standards" beautiful, but they are such wonderful people on the inside, that you think they are just beautiful.

*I forgot to mention in my post about James at 5 months that he's really communicating more than ever. He's making loud squeals, trying to get our attention, and lights up when it works.

*I think James has already learned stalling tactics for bedtime. Last night, it was past his bedtime, and he started getting extra lovey-dovey. For several minutes straight, he was laying on my chest and would look at me and give me a kiss, then lay back down, then lift up and give me a kiss, then lay back down, over and over again. It was the sweetest thing he's ever done...and it worked!! I couldn't put him down until he stopped. :)

Tonight, Elizabeth and Bryon are going to watch James so Josh and I can go out to eat by ourselves. We are so excited to go out two nights in a row! My brother and sis-in-law are also coming into town for her bday and the Alabama game. Should be a fun weekend! I hope everyone has a great one!

A SNAKE?!!! Do you guys live near woods?...where did a snake come from?!
I completely agree with your comments on female body image. A great book to read for anyone struggling with that is "The Confident Woman" by Joyce Meyer!
That's SO Cute what James is doing to stall at night...isn't it fun when they begin to learn how to kiss, talk and hug?!!

WHOA!!! I think I would be more than a little freaked out... I would have to say that that is the only thing that I am truely afraid of... Diddos on the women body issue, too. We recently had a lesson on that in church and it was very awaking. God made our bodies the way they are for his purpose and pleasure.. So what the world thinks... God has you the sz and shape you are right now because he needs you to be that right now. By the way, did you hear that at some fashion show recently that they band all the models that are SKINNY from the show... I sure wish more would and they said it was for all those girls out there that are so impressible. Couple time is so important when you have little ones. I am so glad you are getting to know each other as parents and lovers again... We are need that and most of the time don't get enough these days... James is so adorable and sounds like he is truly one of a kind... I am so happy for you all!!!!

Does Josh deal with the snakes okay? We found a lizard in Adalie's nursery and Adam didn't like getting that either! He makes me catch them. I can't imagine a snake!
I know what you mean about true beauty! And need to be reminded to work more on my inner beauty than my outer beauty. You are BEAUTIFUL inside and out!

OK, I promise that wasn't me who wrote Nascar! Thomas got a hold of the computer obviously!

Yikes!!! I HATE snakes. I can't believe that...how in the world are they getting into your house???

I'm glad you and Josh have been able to go out on some dates. It is so nice after having a kid to be able to get some alone time with each other.

Lindsey~No, we don't live near woods, but they are all over our neighborhood. I've heard of that book and that it's great. I don't know that James really knows how to stall, but it seems like he does!

Kim~Josh gets VERY serious and freaked out on the inside when he encounters them. I was proud of him for killing two since we've lived here! I don't know that we'd be living here had he known it was going to be such a problem.

Lizzy~Yeah right...you know you're obsessed with Nascar! :)

AWare~I hear more and more stories that freak me out about putting my life's pictures on the internet. Keep checking my web album. I post on there all the time.

Rachel~I'm sooo glad you're blogging now and will definitely be checking it out!! Hope all is well! :)

Amanda~I have no idea how they get in, I'm guessing cracks?? I'm just praying that a big one doesn't somehow get in. I might have a heart attack!

Lauren - sorry you weren't contacted during Shepherd's hospitilazation! We had to rely on others to spread the news by word of mouth. The HU football team was contacted for prayers and we just assumed the the alumni would be contacted as well. Obviousely that didn't happen! Sorry!
