11 Months!

I'm slightly in denial that he's 11 months old, because it sounds so much older to me than 10 months. 11 months might as well be a year. I'm excited about him coming up on a year, but it's bittersweet. I didn't realize a year would creep up so quickly! James has done so much changing this month. His personality is coming out, and he is making known to the world who he is!

We've discovered this month that he is quite determined! He will figure out how to get what he wants, and no one will stand in his way! I asked his MDO teachers how his personality was compared to the other babies, and the first thing they said was determined!

He's opinionated. He has learned that there are other options out there, and he'll make known what it is he wants. He always fights us now going into the high chair. He never screams, he just arches his back, puts out his legs, and raises his arms. It is HARD to fight him, because he is as strong as an ox!

He's still a cuddle bug. Our favorite thing right now is how when you pick him up and he wants to snuggle, he will tuck him arms into us as tightly as he can. He hugs you when you pick him up, and he cuddles when we put him down to sleep, looking up at us with the sweetest eyes!

He went through the stranger anxiety stage recently, but has come out of it. Lately, if someone holds out their arms, he lunges for them. If it's someone he doesn't know very well, he will study them.

He's a happy baby. The only time he's in a bad mood is after his afternoon nap. That's when we go outside and play, because being outside makes his mood immediately change! I'm so happy it's warmer and we can do this now!

He's saying new sounds and experimenting more and more with pitch. It really sounds like he's speaking a foreign language very expressively. He also like to mimic us.

He's a picky eater. Or maybe he's just going through a phase, but he is not wanting much of what we give him lately!

He's very friendly when we're out and about and will talk and wave to anybody who will give him attention.

He's funny. I can't describe this one too well, but he just loves it when we're silly with him and laughs in the funniest way, sometimes in such a grown-up way that cracks us up. His favorite way to get around the house is to wall-walk. He's so fast that it's hard to keep up with him. When he's about to enter another room, he looks back and gives a mischievous smile. When I start going to get him, he speeds up! Sometimes he just giggles for no reason. It sounds like his invisible friend is telling him jokes!

He's tough. I say this, but he rarely ever gets hurt. He's very sure-footed, and has figured out pretty well how to not get hurt.

He's observant. He has to see everything that's going on!

He's walking better now! He even turned a corner! (Amazing what we mother's get excited about!) :)

(Btw, notice how I take a lot of pictures of him in his stroller? That one of the only times he is calm and still enough to snap him!)

That's my little man in a nutshell! Next time I do his monthly update, there will probably be some tears and a knot in my stomach!

It's amazing to me how much he's grown and changed, and there's so much more for you to look forward to!

I would love to see/hear a video clip of him laughing! The sound of baby laughter is irresitible.

I checked your blog last night and the pics didn't come up so I tried again tonight and they still aren't coming up...bummer! Guess I'll try again once I'm back in FL. Sounds like James is going to be a confident leader - you guys are doing a great job in raising him!
