My BIG Boy!

When did this happen? James is such a big boy all of a sudden! He has changed so much since he turned three...

**James is potty training! I read a book with potty training songs to him Thursday morning, and he told me, "I'm going to potty train today!" He went to the potty all day, stayed dry at the doctor (even though it was crazy taking him and Jack to the bathroom twice in 30 minutes), and then wanted to wear his diaper to bed. The next morning, he was ready to go again. He had a few accidents, but mostly did great!

Friday night, I said, "Let's put on your diaper for bed." and he said, "I don't wear diapers anymore!" We said okay and put a towel underneath him. I just knew we'd get woken up with him crying from wetting the bed. We woke up the next morning, and he was dry!! He did really well on Saturday and had only one accident. Last night, he stayed dry again! I'm just shocked that we are already done with diapers with him! Now we're just really working on going #2. Without getting too detailed, he likes to go standing up.

**James has gotten so much easier to go out and about with. We went to San Antonio recently, and he was an angel. I took him with me to go shopping yesterday, and he was so grown up. Not to say that he doesn't have his moments, but he has always been a demanding, strong-willed kiddo, and overall, things are just easier with him.

**James is eating so much better. His food repertoire is expanding and he's asking for more and more foods now! That makes my job a little easier!

**James' pretending has reached a whole new level. He pretends constantly and has so much fun acting things out. The pantry is his garage, he'll put something on the bottom of a straw and it's a rocket ship, the Subway pizza box is a parking garage and the flap is the entrance, the line of trees in the backyard is the forest, the country, or the woods, and many more things. I think one of James' strengths is going to be his creativity. He really thinks outside the box and sees things that I would never have thought of. He creates lots of scenarios in inventive ways and sees things not just for what they are, but what else they could be. When he was barely old enough to say these words, he would take a bite out of a sandwich and tell me what it looked like...and it always did!

I though this was cute. He told me this was the airport, and I thought it really looked like one!

James is so adorable and such a big boy! Hooray for him potty training. I was so glad to be done with diapers with Josiah and I'm sure you're glad to be done too with James.
