We had such a fun Christmas and holiday season! It started out with a really nice time celebrating my sweet Jack's first birthday! It was hard having a newborn at Christmas, but it was so much fun having his party to kick off the holidays!
James was more excited about Christmas than ever before and talked about Santa, Grumpy-Humpy (our elf on the shelf), the Nativity story, Christmas lights, presents, decorating, etc, almost all day, every day! It was such a magical Christmas!
We looked at lights almost every night of the season. Most nights, they would fall asleep and we'd just transfer them to bed, which was an added bonus!
My mom, sister, and I had a blast on our annual baking night! We went to my mom's, and I actually had a babysitter come since Josh was out of town.
I had fun making Christmas crafts for our babies at MDO (and seeing the reaction on the mom's faces). :)
We had a lot of fun at our church's family craft night. James was old enough to enjoy it and Jack was passed around.
We enjoyed our Life Group Christmas party and Edward Jones Christmas party.
One of my favorite events of the season were going to Frisco the weekend before Christmas, watching Lydia while M and J went out to a Christmas party, and then spending the night.
My other favorite was having E and B's kids over to spend the night on the Monday before Christmas. We went to Chickfila, looked at lights, rented Christmas movies, made hot chocolate, and then watched the movies. James was so excited to have them over for a slumber party. Mary Beth slept in the packnplay in James' room, which cracks me up that she loves that so much, and James stayed in be all night! I really look forward to the day that Jack will move in to James' room. I'm hoping we'll get some sleep then!
Tuesday night, the 22nd, we went to my parent's and had my grandmother's favorite meal to make, spaghetti, cornbread, slaw, and banana pudding in honor of what would have been her 87th birthday. Then we watched "A Child's Christmas in Whales", a tradition we've had since I was little.
Christmas Eve Eve was at Ninfa's and then back to our house for games. We played Trivial Pursuit and mom was hilarious because she new most of the answers and was shocked every time!
Christmas Eve was at E and B's. We had tamales and enchiladas and watched "A Christmas Carole" (which we've done every Christmas Eve since I was little. It was so exciting to us that it snowed like crazy that night! The kids were all hyper with excitement.
Christmas morning, Santa came to our house. James was so excited and thanked Santa for everything right off the bat, looking up to the ceiling. Jack was cute going from toy to toy and eventually landing on James' race car track. We went to my parent's around 9:30 and had a really nice Christmas morning and day with everyone. The babies slept, and James was calmer this year, so we got to savor it all. James started off saying, "We've got to take turns.", but eventually was asking with every present, "Is that mine, is that mine?" I think his favorite gift was his Alabama uniform given to him by my parents. He didn't want to take it off the next couple of days.
That's our Christmas season in a nutshell!
My friend, Amber, made this for me to give Matthew because of his whole ordeal last month. I thought she did a wonderful job!
All holding our "babies" :)
