12 Weeks

This has been a much needed relaxing week so far, full of cleaning, playing with James, and trying to get him back on somewhat of a schedule. I do wish I could be in Florida right now on our yearly trip there with Josh's fam, and I miss my sister a ton who is on the Cape right now (wish I could be there, too), but since I'm here, I have to say I'm really enjoying it! I feel like I finally have all of my energy back, which I haven't completely had since almost a year ago! I forgot how nice it was to have energy!

James is so much fun right now. His little personality has really come out this past week! He smiles all of the time, is being more expressive with his coos, unknowingly makes funny faces (he already has this raised eyebrow look that makes us laugh a lot), and has even done some mini-laughs. My favorite face is his open-mouthed smile with squinty eyes and scrunched nose. It's like he's so happy he can't contain himself! I kiss him constantly and can't get enough of his soft baby cheeks! He is still extrememly cuddly, which just melts our hearts. He has done a lot of changing in the past week and a half. (Warning...possibly boring details that I want to document.) Last week, he discovered his hands, and he cracks me up when he stares at them right up to his face making him cross-eyed. He clasped his hands together this week and is starting to reach out for objects. He loves his activity mat and has started kicking it to make the music start. He loves to stand up in our laps and gets so excited when he does. He can hold his head up for a long time now and in the past couple of days has started lifting his head to try to sit up when laying down. He is a solid boy at 17 pounds!

Tomorrow, Josh is going to Boston for work, and since my brother is also out of town for work, I'm going to go to Dallas and spend the night with my sister-in-law, Jilinda. I'm very excited and glad that James is so portable right now where I can do that. I know it won't be like this for too much longer! I will work on trying to get some of James' faces that I talked about on camera and post them soon.

I am in love with James, I am so happy to hear how fast he is advancing! I wish you could come spend the night with me, but then I would just be sad when you leave! So thanks for saving me the sorrow! Love you to pieces, give James some lovin' for me.

They grow so fast and bring so much joy into our lives. I can't believe that I use to think that I did not want Kids. They are such a blessing. Thanks for sharing the details. It brings up so many memories. I am so glad that you are enjoying your time with him and getting to know God's Plan for him, too. Take care and I hope that you all have a safe trip there and back.. With all my Christian Love,

I love the stories about what James is doing! What are some of the best things that you have for James? I need some ideas for all of these baby shower gifts. :?)

Audrey,
If it is a breastfeeding mom, a great gift is a "Hooter Hider". It's a hip looking nursing apron that I couldn't live without and works so well. http://www.hooterhiders.com/why.html

I love my Munchkin White Hot Infant Bath Cradle. You lay them on it in the bathtub, it doesn't slide around,it's not bulky it has a little plastic dot that lets you know if the water's too hot, and it's low maintenance. It's seems to be the perfect baby bath tub. Pretty sure they're at Target. You could do that with some bath essentials, like huggies lavendar bath wash or shampoo (my fav).

Jan's Perfect Presents has a great little section of cute baby things that I love having, like Quiet Books, Nursery Rhyme cards that are sturdy but chewable (keeps them occupied at church), and other things like that.

I've just been introduced to the Bumbo seat, and I'm going to go get one this weekend. It's amazing and award winning. They can sit in it starting at 3 months, and it's great for many things. I'll post pics of him in it.

The book, which I've blogged about...Secrets of The Baby Whisperer.

You can't go wrong with a cute outfit, Baby Einstein toys, little books, etc.

Hope that helps!

I just looked at your pics on your family photos! Lauren, you look beautiful!!! Your little guy sure looks like a combo of you two. I was thinking he looked like Josh but man I see a lot of you too! I also looked at those wedding pics, was that by any chance Maria Roberts in the black holding James? She is a friend of mine and that may just be someone who resembles her A LOT. Just curious. Hope all is going well!

Hey Lisa!
That girl is not her. She is someone who went to college with me. People used to say we looked alike all of the time, and she had another girl who people thought looked she looked like, so she must just have one of those faces!
