It was not your ordinary Saturday. Wife does something not very smart. Husband reacts with much patience, but is still very frustrated (rightfully so). What am I talking about you ask?
After seeing husband's wallet in her car this morning, wife tossed husband's wallet on top of the trunk of his car on my (whoops...wife's) way to go shopping this morning, intending to call him right away and tell him, but wife got distracted by child in the back seat and forgot all about it!
Meets husband at lunch, husband asks, "Do you have my wallet? I can't find it anywhere!" Wife says, "Yeah..I ....Oh...Oh NO!" Husband goes searching with wife's brother(who's in town), to no avail. Wife and wife's mother take their turn, planning to walk miles from home to the restaurant to try and find it. Wife says, "Let's check the machine to see if some nice person has called and said they found it." They walk in the house...They see a blinking light...Their hopes are high...The voice on the machine is a neighbor saying "I'm on my way to Paris...I found your wallet...about $6 in there, a credit card, a debit card, etc." This guy was hilarious. Really nice guy and a big jokester. We had just taken out all of our money for the week (we use cash only), so there was obviously more than $6 in there, and yes, it was all there.

Here's the BEST part of the story. He tells me (okay it was me), "About a year ago, I had my address book with a bunch of money in it on my car, it fell off, and someone right around where you live found it!" I said, "I think that was me...yeah, it was me!" He said, "I thought so!". How cool is that?! We joked that we'd keep an eye out for each other when we drove by from now on.
Let this be a warning to you all out there! Thankfully, this ended happily, but I will NEVER do that again!
One more thing, ROLL TIDE!!!
I do love Arkansas, but Bama is my first love! The game tonight was a great game and about as exciting as you can get!

Oh my goodness, Lauren!!! I can't believe you got the wallet back with everything still in it. You are very blessed and lucky!
We were very sad about the Arkansas game last night:( It was a good game though.
Oh, I can tell you live in a small town if you think nothing of throwing his wallet on the trunk of his car! I did a few of those things when the girls were little. I left my Bible on top of the car while fastening car seats once. I drove off with a cup of coffee on top another. Yep, we all do it once...or in my case twice! I am glad it ended well. It's the life of being a mom to young ones! I am glad to pass the torch! Hang in there!
Aunt Jayne
I'm so glad that the wallet was found safe and sound, how scary!
About 6 years ago (a month after Andrew and I got married) I accidentally washed his wallet (he had left it in the pocket of his jeans). I ruined the wallet and most of the contents in it. Needless to say he wasn't very happy with me. However, he always empties his pockets now before putting clothes in the laundry hamper!
I have done the same thing with Trent's BIBLE! Although, it was obliterated. I am so glad you have a nice and fun neighbor who found it, I just hate all the angst you went through in the mean time! BTW, precious pic of James (& your dad?) I just LOVE keeping up with you in this way and knowing stuff that is going on in your life. You are one sweet girl Lauren.
I just read your Aunty Jayne's comment (really pretty name and spelled neat too) and see that I am not the only one! What a craziness!
So glad it ended well! Sounds like something I would do as well! Thank goodness for patient husbands ;)
How funny! Glad it all turned out okay. That sounds like something I would do.
Oh Lauren!!!! You received a big fat blessing from God in the form of a wonderful neighbor!!! I am SO glad for you that he found it and returned it with ALL your money still in tact. I do things like that so often...with kids, it is so easy to get distracted!!!
As for the AR/Bama game,...shame....
Wow, I am amazed that you got Josh's wallet back. And it's even more amazing that the guy who found it had his address book/money found by YOU in the past. Almost sounds like a plot to a movie.
We watched the UA/Ark game Sat. night too...what an intense game. We had several friends who were there and they said it was the loundest they've ever heard Bama's stadium! James looks super cute in his Alabama jersey. Big question though, what jersey will James be wearing this weekend? Georgia or Alabama?
Kristy,
That's my next blog! :)
What a great neighbor! I did something like this recently. I set something on top of my car while I put Sam in and got everything else settled. I got to where I was going and I couldn't find the apple pie anywhere in the car...it was waiting for me in the middle of the intersection in front of my house, smushed beyond recognition by anyone but me!
Thanks Tracy! I'm sooo excited that I'll get a chance to have her for a little bit! See ya tomorrow!
